    INSTRUCTION

All lessons in art will cover four major aspects of the visual arts; historical, aesthetic, critical and productive.

Historicalfocus on art history and culture exemplars

Aesthetic – focus on art appreciation

Critical – focus on elements and principles of design

Productive – focus on studio processes

    GRADING

Students in grades K through 4 will receive grades based on class participation (50%) and class work (50%).

Students in grades 5 through 8 will receive grades based on class participation (20%), homework (20%) and class work (60%). Students in grades 5 through 8 are required to do a weekly sketchbook assignment as their homework. I ask that students spend a minimum of 20 minutes on each assignment. Students will receive a list of sketchbook assignments at the beginning of each trimester for the entire grading period. Sketchbooks can be resubmitted for a better grade (as many times as they want throughout the trimester) as long as they are turned in on time.

    SUPPLIES

All materials necessary for this year will be supplied by Good Shepherd. If students would like to bring in their own supplies (markers, paint brushes, crayons…) they may do so. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress feel free to contact me at school on Tuesdays or by email at mhendron@goodshepherdschool.net.
